Printmaking, an advanced medium, has been known to us as admirable examples since Albrecht Dürer or of etchings from Andrea Mantegna's time at a high level of craftsmanship and intellect. The works are often developed by the artist together with the printing workshop. With the help of his sister and the latest generations of technical printers, David Hockney has brought this development to astonishing perfection and beautiful motifs. Molly Goldfarb also uses technical miracle devices in her new ink jet works, which transport us on our travels and into dream worlds. Sprays are often experimented with, the stencil, a motif multiplied with spray and masks, is particularly attractive because an artist can work with different colors on the same motif, uses the spray very subtly and thus creates the illusion of the individual work. For years, El Bocho has not only enchanted his Berlin audience with these techniques. The works of the American Bill Hickey also play with the many illusions that only printmaking can achieve.

Over the years, you have seen many beautiful works by Rainer Fetting and Markus Lüpertz in the gallery, and they should not be missing from the exhibition. Two generations of artists from America and Berlin, the development of technology over more than thirty years, are an interesting comparison. After all, two years ago we started to present prints by artists from the University of the Arts, whose new works you can now also see, and with Rachel Haaze, Ronja Look and Lillith Nossol the third generation to represent printmaking in our country.
Printmaking is a welcome seemingly never-ending additional source of money for the artist, sales develop over the years, friends and friends can buy them early on.

As always, our special attention is on the genius, because the unforeseen often happens to them. These include Giacomo Piussi with monoprints that play a rare role in his work and will delight the collector. Eliot surprises himself and us again and again with motifs from the everyday world, which he deservedly puts in the very special center. The India and Hiddensee fan, also known as Union Berlin Fan, Torsten Schlüter, and the strict art viewer Hubertus Giebe, who illustrated Günter Grass's Tin Drum as a young artist in Dresden in the 80s, look at lovable, often half-forgotten parts of our world. With "David Kuijers paints the Town" we get an unusually playful insight into the pulsating life of Cape Town.
All of this points to a particular strength of printmaking, which Erasmus of Rotterdam, the preparer of the Enlightenment, already recognized when he discussed the exchange of prints with his friends and patrons:
It is excellently suited to the development and dissemination of new ideas.
