Fleurs Fiore Flowers

in the summertime we especially enjoy being at our gallery. During summer holidays some of you like to spend more time with us, to have a look at the newest works from the ateliers of our artists. Usually  a theme exhibition  is up at the gallery at that time, this year's subject matters are "Flowers".We recieved works by our artists that surpass our expectations. It is amazing to discover all kind of references the artists used for new works and what came to their minds on the theme. All this is beautifully accompanied by the individual handwriting of each artist in every single work. 

There are more models on the theme than we all can imagine. As Henri Matisse put it, "There are everywhere flowers for whom who wants to see it." In art history a flower stillife was very much appreaciated by prosperous citizens, very often it served to send encrypted messages. We still like to use the hidden meaning of a flower, use a flowery message. Girl's names are chosen among names of flowers, so that the nice attributes that are connected with the flower might also be found in the character of the growing girl. As always there is the opposite menaing, if you consider the Italian word Belladonna- Belladonna is a poisonous plant while a beautiful woman might be dangereous... The rose is one of the oldest and most beautiful flowers, it has a long season and usually offers the last flowers in a garden. No wonder that a lot of beautiful attributes are connected to the rose, love, devotion, faithfulness. Some contemporary artists think that you cannot paint a sunflower after van Gogh. Here as well the contrary is true: the famous Swiss gallery owner Ernst Beyeler showed but sunflower paintings at his booth at the Basel art fair, I still remember the exquisite Mondrian work, that was on display.

Another surprise will be our benefiz event in favour of the sports club Havelbrüder,a canoepolo club. We will sell cocktails and our artists gave works to sell for the good purpose. Most of them are convinced that joining a sports club is good for our children. We are very much looking forward to the event.
