Upstate NY painter, Todd Koelmel, enjoys a practice that allows a back & forth flow between digital and analog art. Hs graphic style and use of hard edges lends itself to simplification – a boiling down that’s both nostalgic and mordern.

With gratidude to his surroundings and the love of expression, Todd overlays his filter into landscapes, portraits, still lifes, typography and abstract compositions. His work appear in private collections across the US, Europe and Asia.

Todd’s process begins methodically where shapes and color are simplified and flattened into modern, digital scetches. The transformation from digital scetch to an analog painting incorporates stencils, masking tape and traditional oils –

laid down in solid blocks of color with bold an relaxing lines.

With a background in engineering and design, Todd’s paintings pay respect to many artists throughout history and continues the lineage with a fresh breath of 21st century air.
