In cooperation with the Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven, the editor of the catalog of the exhibition -Bernhard Knaus -, the Kulturstiftung Schloß Agathenburg and the Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim the Raab Galerie shows Plastische Fotografien von Ralf Peters.
By photographing e.g. gas stations, Swimming Pools, Candies or Skylines Ralf Peters not only grabs hold of central places of current work and life but analyzes them. On closer examination one views that the artist always constructs an element of confusion into his image which forces the viewer to look more carefully and more critically. Ralf Peters digitizes the photographs and then manipulates them on a computer.
Evey station of the exhibition shown an other facet of the photografic work of the artist. However all pictures have one thing in common: the irritation.
The first glance shows the viewer clear almost tough pictures. Only when one comes across the irritation one recognizes that something is missing: e.g. that the gas stations are wothout any logos, signs, or indications of price.
When looking at the swimming pools one recognizes that the people portrait look alike and that everybody is wering a yellow bathing suit, bikini or shorts. Additionally the same tree or a hotel appears on all photographs.
With the Skylines series the only thing that is reliable is the line. Eveything else seems cut out and net new.
Alive Wonderworld has been created new with the Candy series. These photographs put the viewer in front of picture puzzles and the wizard of Oz together with the help of a mouse has exchanged entrances and exits and has made water to land.
